Relief Ministries meet the immediate needs of people in crisis or people with desperate circumstances. These ministries might include but are not limited to food, clothing, temporary housing and benevolence ministry. First PENIEL rescue ministries works with the local church to complete a process called Asset Mapping. This process focuses on discerning the real needs of a community and the gifts and passions of the local church. Our goal is to match the needs of the community with the gifts of the church and to launch a relief ministry that makes sense.
Food distribution ministry is easily scalable and can be lead in the context of the local church or as a larger cooperative effort. It can be a monthly grocery give away, free prepared meals or a food pantry depending on the capacity of the ministry or church that is leading.
Clothing ministry is also scalable and can exist in the local church or as a larger cooperative effort. It can be as small as a clothing closet at church and as large as a community thrift store depending on the capacity of the church or ministry that is leading.
Temporary housing is needed in all areas of our city. Some clients need a place to stay for a few nights while others need a month to get on their feet. We are praying that God would provide various housing options through the membership of our local churches.
